Portrait drawings by Malinda, Anatomy Master Class student
Thanks to the Anatomy Master Class, I am diligently practicing what you have taught. I took the class a year ago and continue to refer to it. As I read some of your critiques of some of the other artists, I am able to improve on my own methods.
I am a retired nurse and feel as if the anatomy drawing course has helped improve my techniques tremendously.
Anatomy Master Class Graduate feedback
I’ve taken two online art courses: Drawing Academy and Anatomy Master Class.
Both courses are amazing. These are the best resources to learn fundamental drawing skills, as far as I know, out there. I’m very thankful for that. For any artist, beginner or an advanced art student, they are just a true treasure.
Question from William, Anatomy Master Class student
When I attempt to do an “eight head figure,” my proportions are thrown off.
This one in particular:
“The distance between the toes and the top edge of the kneecap is the same as the distance from that top edge of the kneecap to the iliac crest. This is also the same as the distance from the pubis to the pit of the neck.”
I either make a figure with proportions longer than eight heads, or an eight head figure without proportions; I am confused.

Artworks by Nunzio Paci, a visual artist from Italy
Here’s what Nunzio Paci says about his original art:
“My intention is to explore the infinite possibilities of life, in search of a balance between reality and imagination.”
Question from Judy
What do you think about the “gesture drawing” practice?
In the past I took a few figure drawing classes with nude models, where hours were devoted to “gesture drawing”, with poses changing every 30 or 60 seconds. The longest poses would last 20 minutes. Do you think “gesture drawing” is a good exercise for the beginners or intermediate students? …

Question from Jack, Anatomy Master Class student
I will start by summing up my question: is there an absolute method to map a rectangle of given proportions in perspective? Or does this involve some approximations by eye?
This question come up as I am going through Andrew Loomis’s book “figure drawing for all its worth” and have become stuck on a section about perspective…
Question from Josh, Anatomy Master Class student
In addition to watching Anatomy Master Class video lessons, I also copy sketches out of an artist anatomy book or the Old Master drawings. But, I wonder if I’m getting to the point where I’m mindlessly copying.
Your advice is always appreciated…
