This art course has opened my eyes
Artworks by Sean Oswald, Anatomy Master Class graduate
Before I enrolled in the Anatomy Master Class my life drawing skills were fairly well developed, but I felt strongly that I needed to slow down and go back over the fundamentals and especially deepen my understanding of anatomy. I spent the past ten years mainly painting from life. Though I studied life drawing in school, at this time I realized that to move forward in my paintings, I would need to go back to drawing to reassess anatomy for a more comprehensive understanding.

I think that I've learned a lot and it has opened my eyes to a divide in art education models of learning life drawing. I remember when I was in school the professors would say "draw what you see, not what you know." This course seems to emphasize: "draw what you know, not what you see." I think that I am learning to see more clearly how those two work hand in hand.

This course is changing both the way I draw from life and teach life drawing. My goal when enrolling in this course was to deepen my understanding of anatomy to help in my personal practice and teaching practice. In my work as a portrait artist, I feel more confident addressing the problems that I encounter, because I can rely on my knowledge of anatomy to correct drawing mistakes and mistakes with proportions.
That is why I would recommend Anatomy Master Class to other art students, in fact I already have.
